About Our Mission
The Arkansas Progressive Democrats is an organization dedicated to building a broader, more diverse, and engaged base in Arkansas politics. There are many issues, such as single-payer healthcare, agricultural reform, and economic development, that are so popular that they are nonpartisan issues.
We will work to build the grassroots support to bring these issues to the table and not only build a stronger progressive presence in the state Democratic Party, but also work harder to reach across the aisle and across party lines to come up with real working solutions for everyday working Arkansans.
We aim to be a break from politics as usual in Arkansas, concentrating not only on elections but also on citizen-led ballot initiatives, voter education, and civic engagement. We plan to concentrate the bulk of our recruitment, campaign development, outreach, education, and mobilization in rural areas and precincts that are overlooked by both party and government initiatives. These are areas that are not only most underserved, but are also home to the most dedicated and motivated citizens who don't have an organizational home to build or challenge political power.
We plan, as we grow, to build a caucus within the state Democratic Party, but again, we are dedicated to working across factions and party lines to build a more vibrant democracy in a state usually bound by giant vested interests and powerful lobbies
