Dignified Housing Organizing Fair offers an opportunity to collaborate on April 18

The last year in central Arkansas, more than 4,000 renters were evicted. In addition, the city has seen an increasing number of maintenance issues that have spiraled into health hazards for renters.

On March 17, the City of Little Rock declared a Hosing Crisis, and the Young Democratic Socialists at UALR created the Dignified Living Campaign to help address the problem. They're advocating for a Renters Advisory Board Ordinance, which requires the city to work with a board of renters and community members to make improvements.

In order to provide more public pressure on the mayor to prioritize this issue, they are asking for signatures from Little Rock residents. Follow the group on Instagram for more information or voice your concerns and begin collaborating towards solutions at the Dignified Housing Organizing Fair on Saturday, April 18 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at UALR's Ledbetter Hall. You can also sign up to join the the Dignified Housing Coalition here.

The afternoon event will be dedicated to strengthening community and

pushing the progressive movement forward, according to the Young Democratic Socialists group. The organization is working with Renter's United to help the community build connections and work towards improvements in the Little Rock housing situation.

"We believe that meaningful change comes from holding our elected officials accountable both at City Hall and at the ballot box," the YDSA said.
