APDC Reaction to President Trump’s Illegal Act

APDC Leadership

Feb 28, 2026

This president is anything but peaceful

The Arkansas Progressive Democratic Caucus condemns the actions of a rogue president whose loyalties lie more with Israel than with the people he was elected to represent. Throughout history presidents have moved against foreign powers without the consent of the governed and history has seen them for the tyrants and poor leaders that they were. Trump will be no different. If he drags us into yet another conflict in the Middle East that causes massive human casualties, history will see him for the despot that he is.

Trump has touted being the “peace president” but his methods are anything but peaceful. Providing Israel with a near unlimited amount of funds and weapons while also helping them with strikes against countries who were not interjecting themselves in any of our foreign affairs is reckless and unforgivable. His choice to strike against Iran today was an impeachable offense and Congress must act to prevent further civilian casualties.

Not only will this act of war kill Iranian civilians, it will also negatively affect American consumers. The Strait of Hormuz is controlled by Iran and is where the oil that comes to this country to be refined and power our economy comes through. Since they have chosen to shut down the Strait in an act of retaliation, oil has the potential to jump to more than $100/barrel, causing gas prices and other goods and services to sky rocket.

The APDC soundly rejects this administration’s latest illegal act and calls on our leadership to invoke the Wars Power Act. The longer we wring our hands and fail to act, the worse this will be for both American citizens and our military members. No one wants another endless bloody war for oil when we have people in this country starving and who can’t afford basic needs. Call your Senators and Representatives and let them know that you know what Trump is doing is illegal and you want them to act and act now.
